The Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs is the driving force behind the promotion and sponsorship of the arts, events, and tourism efforts for all of Hudson County, New Jersey. Accompanying the website refresh, an icon system was developed to increase interest, aid user navigation, and add a layer of context for the various content categories.
The need to be easily informative and stay on theme is paramount to any successful icon system. Many of these icons were developed as their needs arose, so being able to define and extend the system through multiple delivery phases was an important process for maintaining cohesiveness across the entire system.
